FPF: OPUS DEI IS VATICAN'S VICE
Franklin's Focus 1/25/07
OPUS DEI, THE CIA, AND THE FBI
What do all three of these groups have in common? Well, they
have a great deal in common, but I'm interested in one
commonality only - their clandestine presence and their
subversive activities in Venezuela. Since you already know a
great deal about the FBI and CIA plus their kinds of activities
in foreign countries, I will merely say a few things about the
Opus Dei.
Latin for 'the work of God', it is a lay organization of
rightwing Catholics dedicated to resisting anything liberal. It
was founded in 1928 by wealthy Spaniards who felt the
dictatorship of Franco and his fascist Falange were far too
namby pamby and liberal. I say this to impress upon you some
idea of just how far to the right Opus Dei is.
The Church has always loved this group and probably opened its
vast coffers to its fascistic members to finance all sorts of
nasty activities. Assassinations, kidnappings, disappearing
people, coups, rigging elections, briberies, torture, and so on
have been attributed to this group. You'd think that these kinds
of activities would merit condemnation by at least one of the
various asshole Popes, but in 1950 the Papacy actually
recognized Opus Dei as a legitimate and worthy group that was
doing the work of God.
Their clandestine presence in any Latin country daring to
challenge the Church or establish a democracy has been all but a
given. Of course, they have continually rubbed noses with the
CIA, a group they have long had collegial relations with. They
also get along quite well with the FBI. Suspicions abound that
these groups not only get along well socially, they work very
well together at undermining nascent democracies.
CHAVEZ HATERS ARE FINDING IT TO BE QUITE PROFITABLE TO HATE HUGO
Is is not surprising that the three groups are flitting about in
Venezuela trying to arrange for the demise of Chavez, the
financing of Venezuelan fascist groups, and putting members of
the military on their payrolls. Chavez haters are finding it to
be quite profitable to hate Hugo, and even those who do not hate
him probably find the lure of so much lucre irresistible.
When the Castro brothers and Che Guevara triumphed in Cuba, they
did so only after evicting Fulgencio Batista and his court of
corrupt plutocrats, the oligarchic landowners, an American
military that was hastily sent to Cuba to save Batista, the
entrenched Mafia with its vast gambling empire, the Church, and
the Opus Dei. Only then could the revolutionaries set about
establishing a liberated socialist Cuba.
Since then, Castro has had to continuously chuck people in
prison who sneak into Cuba under the command of Operation
Mongoose to commit terrorist acts and assassinations. This CIA
op has reportedly backed 5,000 attempts on the life of Castro.
Only the extreme loyalty of the revolutionary cadre and troops
have preserved the life of Castro all these years.
From day one, the odds against the rebels were enormous, but
they managed to survive and create a totally new society in Cuba
with a great system of education, healthcare, natural
agriculture, and so on. On the provincial and town levels, they
have created a system so democratic it puts America to shame
when it comes to a comparison with our unresponsive, corrupt
state and city governments. As for venality and corruption at
the national level, Cuba also puts the US to shame. The highest
level of ministers drive around in old junkers and live in
humble homes.
Yes, it is a dictatorship at the national level, but Cuba would
never have survived any other way. Faulting them for not
creating a national level democracy would be like faulting an
army for not being democratic. To survive, the national
government had to operate much like an army. If the US had not
immediately made Cuba an enemy, it is highly probably some form
of democracy would have evolved at the national level, albeit
different from the yankee model.
Now let's focus on Venezuela and Chavez's Bolivarian Revolution.
He too is struggling to function with countless agents of the
Opus Dei, the CIA, and the FBI milling about trying desperately
to torpedo his revolution. Of course, they all want to kill him.
Along with these nasty folks are members of his own military who
were likely trained at the infamous School of Americas,
otherwise known as the School of Torture. Thousands of graduates
have been placed all over Latin America and have served US
interests quite well. Chavez will eventually have to purge these
potential assassins, any one of which knows he could become a
millionaire living in Palm Beach with a single bullet.
IN THE MIDDLE OF ALL THIS, CHAVEZ IS TRYING TO EFFECT A
REVOLUTION.
Among other goals, he wants to return the ownership of
Venezuela's natural resources to the people of Venezuela. To do
this, he has to overcome resistance by the landed aristocracy,
the Church, the military, Opus Dei, the CIA, and the FBI. If
that were not enough, he cannot legally nationalize the oil
industry; so he has asked the national legislature for a
three-month power to nationalize any and all natural resources
of Venezuela currently in possession of greedy foreigners who
allot an unreasonably small cut of the profits to the people of
Venezuela.
Because he has sought two other special powers for a mere three
months in order to make some radical changes in Venezuela
pursuant to the Bolivarian Revolution. the media in the US are
going ape over the fact that he is now supposedly moving to
extinguish Venezuelan democracy. The fact is he is one of the
few democratic leaders in the Third World who absolutely does
not need to make himself or herself into a dictator. He has been
elected multiple times by large margins that are only going to
grow larger with each election.
WILL VENEZUELA BUILD A DEMOCRACY MODELED AFTER THAT OF THE US?
GOOD GOD, LET'S HOPE NOT.
The American 'democracy' is in its death throes. Just as
Benjamin Franklin predicted it would, corruption is going to
eventually kill the American Republic. Latin countries do not
want to model their governments after the American model. They
don't like what they see.
Countless Latin leaders and political activists like what they
have seen in Cuba and Venezuela better than what they have seen
in the US where 47 million Americans have no health insurance,
and Bill Gates's personal wealth exceeds that of the total
wealth of over 50% of Americans, and America has gone wild
expending its young people and its treasure on insane wars. From
the outside, it just doesn't look that good. In fact, it no
longer looks all that good from the inside either.
Whatever kind of governments evolve in Brazil, Bolivia, Chile,
Ecuador, and Venezuela, they are not going to look like our
national government. Thank God for that. Shame on all those
Americans who want all other nations to build states modeled
after the USA.
Just because the peoples of those nations are not Americans does
not make them stupid, a belief held by many Americans, often
appropriately referred to as 'ugly Americans'.
Today's Quotation:
[American] 'patriotism is a pernicious, psychopathic form of
idiocy.'
[Sorry about that. I just couldn't resist.]

Richard

Conyers Has Rebelled Against Pelosi and the DLC
The following article will almost certainly make your day. I
just sent
an email to Conyers heaping effusive praise on this man, who may
be
risking his political career, or perhaps even his life, to do
the right thing.
His address is: John.Conyers@mail.house.gov
Please send him a quick note of thanks and ask your friends to
do the
same.
I also plan on buying his book as a further gesture.
Warmest regards, Richard

CHAIRMAN CONYERS PUTS BUSH ABUSE OF POWER `ON THE TABLE'
Speaker Nancy Pelosi may have taken impeachment "off the table,"
but House Judiciary Chair John Conyers (D-MI) is about to put it
back on the menu.
Conyers may have been blocked by a timid Pelosi from initiating
impeachment hearings immediately into President Bush's crimes
against the Constitution, but he's taken the first step anyway,
with the anouncement of plans to hold hearings into what is
surely the President's gravest abuse of power.
The congressman, a veteran of the Nixon impeachment hearings who
recently published a book on Bush's crimes, today announced
plans to have his Judiciary Committee hold hearings on Bush's
rampant use of so-called "signing statements." These are the
documents the president has claimed give him the power, as a
commander-in-chief, to ignore laws duly passed by the Congress.
Bush has used this bogus claim to ignore all or parts of some
1200 laws passed by Congress. He has done it willfully, and he
has done it deceptively, often adding the signing statement
saying he will be ignoring a law after having first hosted a
friendly photo-op signing session at which he offer no
indication that he had any problem with a measure.
The first Judiciary Committee hearing is set for January 31.
Hopefully this will be followed by more Judiciary hearings into
the president's other high crimes and misdemeanors.
Readers should encourage Conyers in his efforts, and urge him to
follow through, by sending messages of support to:
