Senator Joe Biden redeemed himself somewhat today by pledging on air (with Wolf Blitzer) to support a filibuster. But Biden is still playing the prima donna, hoping to keep both sides of his molding bread buttered: He says he'll only support a first vote canvas for the fillibuster. If the Dems are short a vote or two on an initial canvas, then he said he'll STILL sell us all out anyway.
So here's the current tally: There are an estimated 8 Democrats in the Senate who are blocking any hope of an Alito filibuster. These eight sellouts are cowering at home this weekend, refusing to identify themselves, while their co-senators refuse to inform the American public who they are. If their constituents do not know who they are, how can the constituents make their wishes - THE WISH OF THE VOTERS - known? Looks like Bushiness is contagious - because hiding the truth from the public on an issue of paramount importance to the nation's future sure sounds a lot more like something a fascist regime - not a democratic government - would do.
Here are the definite sell outs pledged to vote yes to total Bush takeover of the US government:
Mark Pryor (AR)
Robert Byrd (WVA)
Ben Nelson (NE)
As to filibuster blockers, here are the names I think are the most likely suspects: Joe Leiberman (CT), Daniel Akaka (HI) Diane Feingold (CA), Conrad Kent (ND) Bryan Dorgan (ND), Daniel inouye (HI) Marie Landrieu (LA) Frank Lautenberg (NJ)
