On tonight's Paula Zahn Now, Ms. Zahn interviewed Joe Trippi. She
delivered this partial quote of Dean's comments about Bush and 9/11
from the Diane Rehm show : "the most interesting theory that I have
heard so far, he responded, "is that he was warned ahead of time by
the saudis." (transcipt of entire NPR conversation follows) She
insisted that Mr. Trippi respond to the PARTIAL statement. He asked
that she continue to read Dean's quote, in order to provide the
entire context, which she never did. Ms. Zahn ended the interview
having still not read the entire quote, stating "I think our audience
has a pretty good sense now of what was said and what wasn't said.
Joe trippi, thank you for your time. "

Points: (but use your own words)

1. WE'RE the audience and NO, we do not have any idea from that
interview what was and wasn't said.

2. Governor Dean never suggested that President Bush had advance
knowledge of 9/11. He made the valid point that theories such as
that one flourish in the absence of factual information, which has
not been forthcoming from the Bush administration.

3. Dean made it very clear in the original interview that this was
only a theory, and he made it clear it wasn't he who believed it.
There are actually many people who would fully believe this theory
were Governor Dean to have never said that and it is damaging to the
people's trust in our government to not have credible information
helping us to understand what did happen.

4. As citizens, we find it critical to the future of our struggle
against terrorism and effort to prevent future attacks to understand
the circumstances leading up to 9/11. The strength of a democracy is
that we should expect nothing less and we expect President Bush to
cooperate with the Keane commission.

5. At a time in America when we are in great need of meaningful
dialog, we do not appreciate this GOTCHA game. It sacrifices the
future of our country for market share.

By the way, it is the Keane commission (error in transcript below)
