Bush making it worse Posted: 13-Oct-2004 16:28 Reply
The issue is not whether we are safer because Saddam is gone. Everyone is
safer every time a thug, a criminal or a dictator is removed. There are many
bad and evil people in the world.
The real issue is whether the “war” in Iraq, the way that we have waged and
the rhetoric Bush has chosen has made America safer. It has not. No reasonable
person can believe that threatening in affect a crusade against the Islamic
world an invading a Muslim country makes America safer. A messianic mission to
build empire is a clear path to destruction. Its fruits are seen everyday with
death, destruction and beheadings.
We have created a haven for terrorists in Iraq and a cause for recruiting
more. The war in Iraq is unnecessarily costing American blood and treasure and
assuring greater globalization of the war as we contribute to violence
spiraling out of control.
By going to war with Iraq and continuing occupation we have done exactly what
Bin Laden wanted. We removed Saddam so he and his could go in and
significantly helped prove the case that America is attacking the Islamic
world. Bush has consistently pitted the Gods with his charge on behalf of “the
almighty God” to provide “God’s gift of democracy” in the new American Century
of “Liberty.” His “plan from heaven” and “message from beyond the stars” is a
direct challenge to Allah. The war on Iraq set against these verbal assaults
on the Muslim world by Bush assures a continuing struggle for the safety and
security of the world by creating a clash of civilizations.
Under the tough rein of Saddam there was order. Now no one is safe anywhere in
Iraq (even the Green Zone) and terrorists rule the streets and countrysides of
Iraq. The war is spreading and hate for America in the world is at an all time
high.
