(October 8, 2002)CITIZENS CAN MAKE HISTORY WITH A PRESIDENT ELECTED AND SELECTED BY THE PEOPLE Open Letter to law-abiding, patriotic citizens of the United States of America:Can the United States afford another amnesty for illegal aliens? Amnesties encourage more to come. Already 34 million foreign-born people live in the United States. Is assimilation doing its job with this number? Let alone more! Can we afford to share our Social Security Trust Fund -- soon to be in deficit even without taking on additional liability to citizens of another country? Is it fair to all the Americans who have paid into this kitty? These questions make us ask if we can afford to elect any of the present Democratic presidential candidates or can afford to re-elect George W. Bush!Between 8 and 12 million illegal aliens are in the country today. Amnesty [by any name] for those who break U.S. law simply by entering illegally is a wrong for America.Nevertheless, on January 7 President Bush proposed an amnesty plus an invitation for more to come, and confirmed this policy in a January 12 meeting with El Presidente Fox of Mexico. Most would-be immigrants who come here are decent people but they take jobs from Americans and established, legal, immigrants, and they depress wages for almost everyone. They also add to the burdens of already over-burdened educational and health-care systems, mostly paid for by past and present citizens. And illegal aliens do bring in contagious diseases such as dengue fever, drug resistant TB, hepatitis C, and malaria. As we've learned from bitter experience, amnesty acts as an inducement for people to keep on coming illegally because they expect that their turn for amnesty will arrive eventually! President George W. Bush seems not to know this history.President Bush has already found Congressmen and Senators willing to introduce amnesty legislation.Other Congressmen have attempted to derail the worst amnesty bills by proposing "less bad" legislation - which is still a loss for our side. We cannot let this defensive posture be the only alternative to outright giving away our country! In addition to amnesty, President Bush and many Republicans and Democrats in Congress want the U.S. and Mexican Social Security systems to be joined at the hip. Illegal aliens would get to count their time worked in the U.S. together with time worked in Mexico in order to receive U.S. Social Security checks! According to one estimate, at least $750,000,000 would be sent to Mexico in the first five years of merging the two systems!Under the circumstances, our hand is forced. Only a dramatic move by concerned citizens can derail the momentum building for a new amnesty and for this attack on our Social Security Trust Fund. Nothing less will suffice. The ANSWER? Put up a presidential candidate to oppose Bush in the Republican primaries!By-passing big-Party politics, concerned citizens will try to select a presidential nominee of their choice. One who understands the harm that mass immigration inflicts upon Americans and one with an electoral mandate to do something about it!Selection of a superb presidential candidate requires the formation of concerned committees in every State. Most State law does not require consent or approval from the proposed candidate. We need to make noise, collect signatures, build a grass roots movement that attracts citizens from all walks of life and all political parties. Support will come from men and women whose job security and standard of living are threatened by mass immigration, parents whose children attend crowded schools where a significant number of classmates do not use English as a first language, retired and sick people whose access to medical care is blocked by waiting rooms stuffed with illegal aliens, and conservationists who see that environmental devastation follows hard on rapid population growth.Polls show that 80% of Americans, including naturalized citizens and a majority of minorities, want to end mass immigration. Amnesty for illegal aliens takes us farther from that goal!Organization is the hard part but concerned citizens have done this before! The easy part is identifying a candidate who has credibility with the immigration reform movement. That man is Congressman Tom Tancredo [R-CO].State by State, TANCREDO-FOR-PRESIDENT COMMITTEES can be formed. Most States allow formation of such committees without consultation or permission from the candidate. The man, Congressman Tom, himself, is not a candidate. But we can make him one!How has Congressman Tancredo earned the respect of the immigration reform movement?1) Congressman Tancredo's bill H.R 946, a moratorium on all immigration in excess of 300,000 per year, is a beacon to real immigration reform. Passage of such legislation would immediately reduce legal immigration by two-thirds. It would also short-circuit any number of proposals that skirt the margins of immigration policy but do nothing to tackle the real problems.2) Good immigration law that Congressman Tom Tancredo helped to pass [limits on welfare to non-citizens, etc.] Currently, Congressman Tom supports a bipartisan bill that would deputize local police officers to arrest undocumented immigrants for deportation. Participation by police departments would be voluntary. Potentially, the 650,000 local law enforcement officers nationwide could reinforce the beleaguered 2000 officers of the federal Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.3) Bad immigration bills he has helped to derail.4) Other issues.*Protect the First Amendment right of free speech.*Repeal portions of McCain-Feingold bill that limit issue ads before primaries and the general election.*Protect the Second Amendment: Assure a citizen's right to own and carry firearms.*Distinguish marriage, which is between a man and a woman, from legally-recognized unions between consenting adults.*Amend the new Medicare prescription drug entitlement to put it on a fiscally responsible footing and also give seniors the flexibility and choice comparable to the Employee Health Benefits Program available to members of Congress.Tancredo-for-President committees will hit President Bush where it hurts the most: His chances for re-election in 2004.Bush might come to understand that the base he took for granted deserted him because of his traitorous - yes, traitorous - positions on immigration. All politicians might learn that there are consequence to negotiating an amnesty deal for illegal aliens; to merging the U.S. and Mexican Social Security systems; to instructing a Secretary of the Treasury to encourage banks and other institutions to accept the Mexican consulate-issued Consular Matricula cards - which are identification cards for illegal aliens; to not opposing driver's licenses for illegal aliens; to not reversing President Clinton's order that assorted enterprises and public institutions must provide foreign-language translators at their own expense. When we go to the 2004 Republican National Convention with delegates promised to Tom Tancredo, we will be on the road to nominating a loyal American who puts the interests of his country above personal political ambition. Therefore, we ask that all of us explore immediately the possibilities and prospects of TANCREDO-FOR-PRESIDENT committees in our State. Little time remains. The deal for another illegal alien amnesty is in full swing. The Republican primaries are not that far away. The Tennessee primary is February 10. Let's keep the ball rolling!"At the first table where you check in to vote, ask the poll worker for a paper ballot for the Republican primary. At no time go into a voting booth, or your paper ballot will be disqualified."Here is the official mailing address for the Tennesseans for Tancredo organization: Tennesseans for Tancredo P.O.
