Excellent article. There are only a handful of journalists left with
the credentials, credibility and balls to face the Bush Rules.
However, one gets the impression that there are places even Seymour
Hersh fears to tread. It's bizarre. Journalists now have to see
themselves as whistleblowers when it comes to the Bush Dynasty. You
might report the truth, you might rattle a few cages, but in the end
you will be ruined, and the Bush machine will find a way to use your
reporting as a means to illustrate how cruel and unfair the liber
elite media is to poor Georgie. A good simple man who cares only
about our liberty and security. They even go so far (the right wing
press, that is) to suggest that Georgie is too stupid to have any
hidden agendas. It is a simple formual, make his weaknesses seem
like strength and attack all opponents at their strongest points.
Smart guys like Kerry and Gore are phoney snobs. War heroes with the
wounds to prove it are questionable patriots. War heroes who come
home to question the purpose of the massacre are self serving
treasonous wanks. There is no lie the Rovers will not tell, no
slimey depth to which they will not dive. Until we rid ourselves of
these mad bastards we will continue to slide toward a fascists state
that ensures its survival by appearing to be domestically benign.
One has to think hard to come up with any reasons why either Bush
deserves no less a fate than Hitler or Mussolini. However, the old
man will probably expire in a ritzy hotel with some teenage boy and
Georgie will die having accidently cut off his own head while taking
the chain saw to some of that Crawford, pig farm stink weed.
