Mr. Portious has made some good points here. However, he is too limiting in his assessment.
What Bruce doesn't say is the fact that almost all, if not all nations are committing the same errors and breaking the same laws.
He says that all the Anglo-Saxon nations now have unsustainable foreign debt...
Why then, does he not take into account the great demand for various nations to relieve the debt Iraq has?
What about the fact that the US and others have now called for other nations to relieve the debts that Indonesia has, and other nations hit by the tsunami?
It is not just the Anglo-Saxon peoples who are at "fault", but the entire world is operating on the same system of over extention of resources, credit, etc.

And, unlike the scenario Mr. Porteous pushes for failures only in the "Anglo-Saxon", virtually every nation on the planet is on the edge of financial collapse or problems.

Look at many nations in Africa, S. America, Asia, etc. Where are there not similar problems economically that with one misstep that nation can drop into chaos?

There is no reason to pick on the "Anglo-Saxon" nations alone, for it is obvious that all are on the brink.

However, there is a change in the wind now that is becoming more and more apparent. That is, instead of a "collapse" as Mr. Porteous attempts to foment, there is a shift, slowly but surely, of the economic growth of the world in a different direction. That shift, as we will see in the next 6 years and 2 0 3 months will be toward the Middle East. And, I think, for those who know what to look for, we will find a very different economic world at the end of this time period, and with a florishing and stabilized world economy with only the center shifted from the West to the Middle East. Especially, when the new compromises between Israel and her Arab neighbors comes about, especially after the new Palestinian State comes into being as an actual "partner" with Israel. The benefits of this partnership will make a positive impact on the present situation in the Middle East and a new era will begin.

Also, by then, the new Iraq will begin to function as a full blown self-governing nation working positively in and among and with the other nations of the world and the Middle East. This new alignment of Middle Eastern nations will have an extremely positive effect on the economies of the world, AND on all the Middle Eastern peoples.

Following this 6 year period we are going through right now, will come a very different world. And, for a time, at least a decade or two, astounding growth that will probably surprise a lot of the world's people.

No, it is not just the Anglo-Saxon nations, but the whole world who are in economic troubles, for just one domino in the right place can cause problems for all. But, the dramatic positive changes in the Mid-East during the next few years will at least stabilize everyone for a time.
