(CWRL) for the Division of Rhetoric and Composition
Bill Wolff, assistant director of UT’s Computer Writing and
Research Lab (CWRL) for the Division of Rhetoric and
Composition, offers similar advice and recommends that designers
create their site through the lens of accessibility rather than
as an afterthought.
“When your site is under girded by accessible code and design,
your site design will become cleaner and your navigation more
user friendly,” said Wolff, who lead UT's winning team. “Too
often designers create pages based on what they see on their own
screen. Instead, we need to create pages based on what users of
the sites are going to see or hear on their screens. That small
tweak in how we focus our design energies – from ourselves to
our users – will have dramatic affects on the creation process.”
The Office of Financial Services at St. Edward’s University
placed third in the AIR-U event, lead by Student Financial
Services Advisor Willow Lucas. Lucas attended the Knowbility
training session and shared her new skills with colleagues as
they began to design a new Web site for student financial
services.
