Political Correctness in our schools.....

Document 029.0.0.4   # 6....

ISSUE: It's an ongoing battle against the forces of Political Correctness
(PC) in our nation's government... er, excuse us, public... schools.
This time, in Saugatuck, MI, the local middle school principal has decided
that recognizing high-achieving students is too exclusionary, so they've
disbanded the school's chapter of the Junior National Honor Society.
The group received the boot from Saugatuck Middle School Principal Judy
Foss because, in her words, "it sets students apart from their peers."
Well, gee. A discipline policy also sets certain behavior apart. Is that
the next thing to go -- right after we eliminate D's and F's on the report
cards?
One PC-drone parent said she supported ending the club "because the goal of
the middle school is inclusion rather than exclusion."
But, as another parent said, "It is much more important for us to recognize
and appreciate differences than to believe that equality means sameness."
How true -- the Declaration of Independence says that "All men are created
equal," NOT that they're created the same. This is political correctness run
amok.
ACTION ITEM:  The Saugatuck Board of Education has said they plan to
"further examine the issue" of eliminating the honor society. Contact
Superintendent Tom Nowak (tnowak@remc7.k12.mi.us) and ask him to reconsider
the Board's decision, now that the eyes of the country are upon them --

"There is in Italy a power which we seldom mention in this House.  I mean
the secret societies.  It is useless to deny, because it is impossible to
conceal, that a great, part of Europe--The whole of Italy and France and a
great portion of Germany, to say nothing of other countries--is covered with
a network of those secret societies, just as the superficies of the Earth is
now being covered with railroads.  And what are their objects?  They do not
attempt to conceal them.  They do not want constitutional government: they
do not want ameliorated institutions, they wan to change the tenure of the
land, to drive out the present owners of the soil and to put an end to
ecclesiastical establishments.  Some of them may go further.." (DISRAELI in
the House of Commons, 14 July 1856.)

"I do verily believe that a single, consolidated government would become the
most corrupt government on earth." Thomas Jefferson to Gideon Granger, 1800.
"Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the
argument of tyrants, it is the creed of slaves." William Pitt speech to the
House of Commons.
"You shall have one world government, whether or not you like it, by consent
or by conquest." Former FDR aide, James Warburg  CFR/TC, in testimony before
