Because of that, Ms. Schiavo has been in a severely disabled state and requires a feeding tube for her nourishment and hydration. She breathes on her own. Her husband has petitioned the Florida Courts to have her tube removed, stating she would not want to live “on anything artificial” – while her family has fought to gain guardianship over her and seek out therapy. In recent court documents, the results of a bone scan conducted in 1991 illustrate massive body trauma, multiple broken bones and other suspicious areas that leads the family to believe Terri may have been beaten the night of her collapse. A radiologist involved with the case is on record as stating that Terri was “worked over good”. Another attending physician testified that Terri’s rigid neck is consistent with strangulation. State Attorney, Bernie McCabe has refused investigation because of the time that has elapsed since Ms. Schiavo’s collapse and The Florida Appellate Court has refused to overturn a recent judgment by Pinellas County Judge George Greer to remove Terri’s feeding tube, thereby causing her death by starvation and dehydration. This prompted a group of volunteers to organize petitioning efforts on Governor Jeb Bush in the hopes the Governor would halt proceedings and order a fully investigation.Several thousand petitions have been sent to the Governor in just under a week’s time.
