Website rallies truckers for Ron Paul
By Jill Dunn
http://www.etrucker.com/apps/news/article.asp?id=63629A new website is designed to rally support among truckers for the presidential bid of U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas.
Self-described over-the-road trucker Aaron Turpen says on his website,
http://www.truckers4ronpaul.org, that the site is “a way for other truckers to get to know the Republican candidate and find out what his views on driver-related issues are.”
Turpen says he has sent Paul questions on the North American Free Trade Agreement, Mexican trucking, border security, customs, hours-of-service regulations and new hazmat-endorsement requirements. As of Oct. 2, he had not yet received a reply, but noted on the site, "He is a busy man, after all."
“All drivers, company drivers, or owner-operators, have their pure love of freedom in common,” the website states. “No one in D.C. has been a stronger, louder, or more consistent voice for freedom than Congressman Ron Paul.”
Paul states on his own campaign website,
http://www.ronpaul2008.com, that he is for “limited constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, and a return to sound monetary policies.” He was the Libertarian Party presidential nominee in 1988 and is the only Republican candidate in a position to do so to vote against the Iraq war.
