Report: Sunday, 2:30 PM EST: We are at Union Square. United for Peace and Justice has announced that this is the end of the "legal march." Protesters proceeding to Central Park do so at the risk of arrest. Here at Union Square there are police on bikes, on horses, in vans, cars, and in heliocopters. We will rally here a while and check Central Park for developments. Check back soon. Reporting live from NYC at Union Square, Lori Price and Miike Rectenwald.

Report: 1:45 PM EST: Marched past Madison Sq. Garden, past phalanx of helmeted police. Fox news there illicited anti-Faux chants. Code Pink people in pink slips. Marching now in front of Bank of America at 5th Avenue. March route is making a square: from W. 23rd past RNC HQ, where we yelled for long time. Past 34th Penn St., curved East down 5th Ave. Destination Union Sq. Park. About 40 or 50 counter protesters only... protected by Police, were allowed on sidewalk. Two Bush supporters were greeted with chants of "Idiots for Bush!" So far, the police have been very restrained and thus no violence has yet broken out to our knowledge. Report: 12:04 PM EST: Must be over 100,000 people here so far. Counter demonstration ahead, don't know where. The March has begun!!!

Report: 11:48 AM EST: Counter protesters, escorted by Police. Looks like possible trouble. Phone call from Lori & Mike disconnected in attempt to report.

Report, Sunday, 11:12 AM EST from Lori Price and Michael Rectenwald in NYC: We have taken over the streets of New York. We are on 7th and 19th. A solid wall of protestors as far as the eye can see. 85 degrees and humid. People carrying casket with an American flag symbolizing the dead in Iraq. People carrying a tank with Bush's head popping out of the top. ACLU observers. United for Peace and Justice, enviromentalist groups, 911truth.org. People singing, beating drums, chanting. Signs reading: "Empty Warhead found in White House," "Re-defeat in 2004," "End the Occupation in Iraq," "Support our Troops, Vote Kerry," "Stop Bush." Tens of thousands of protesers so far, more joining. Everyone carrying a sign. Helicopters overhead circling. Police punctuating the march on each side with metal barricades on either side. Shops are open. The march is peaceful; so far the cops have not started any violence. People screaming, cheeering,. The march starts at noon! check back for a report at noon!!!
