TREASON = a crime that undermines the offender's government
In law, treason is the crime of disloyalty to one's nation. A person who reneges on an oath of loyalty or a pledge of allegiance, and in some way willfully cooperates with an enemy, is considered to be a traitor.
Oran's Dictionary of the Law (1983) defines treason as: "...[a]...citizen's actions to help a foreign government overthrow, make war against, or seriously injure the [parent nation]." The state of Florida's constitution defines treason as: "[Treason is] levying war against [the state], adhering to its enemies, or giving them aid and comfort..."
In the United States Code the penalty ranges from "shall suffer death" to "shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States."

When suicide bombers shattered the calm of the Casablanca night on 16 May 2003, they did more than take 45 lives; they endangered Morocco's future as a democracy.
Morocco had long been considered a haven of tolerance and peace. Any troubles were attributed to foreign agitators.
But Moroccans bombed Casablanca. All grew up in poverty and followed the ideology of radical Islam. None had ever left Morocco. 15 of the 22 people jailed for the Madrid bombing are MOROCCAN. In a special feature on the 3/11 attacks, Time magazine called MOROCCANS the "new face of terror".
A member of Hofstad, an extremist group composed largely of young ethnic MOROCCANS, is accused of the November murder of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh. This year, Dutch police arrested 13 MOROCCAN terror suspects. Similar sweeps in France and Belgium led to the incarceration of at least a dozen members of a suspected MOROCCAN terrorist cell.
In Europe, 80 per cent of those arrested since 2003 on terrorism charges are MOROCCANS. The days of not worrying about Morocco are over. [more]

Most Iraq Suicide Bombs by Foreigners

The vast majority of suicide attackers in Iraq are thought to be foreigners mostly Saudis and other Gulf Arabs ? and the trend has become more pronounced this year with North Africans also streaming in to carry out deadly missions, U.S. and Iraqi officials say.

Up to 20 percent of the bombers might be from Algeria, according to forensic investigations after attacks, senior U.S. military officials have said on condition they not be named for security reasons. Another 5 percent each might be from Morocco and Tunisia, the officials said.
"We've also seen an influx of suicide bombers from North Africa, specifically Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco," Abizaid said.

Potential Link Between London and Madrid through Wanted Moroccan
An earlier unconfirmed press story published in the Wall Street Journal (as seen below) reports that "British police have asked their European counterparts for information" about Moroccan national Mohamed Guerbouzi (a.k.a. Abu Aissa)--an influential military commander with the Al-Qaida-affiliated Moroccan Islamic Combatant Group (MICG). If correct, this could prove to be a major development in the London bombings investigation. Guerbouzi is a longtime resident of London who, according to credible sources, met while in the United Kingdom with another infamous Moroccan terrorist suspect -- Jamal Zougam. Zougam is currently on trial for his alleged role as a lead bomber in the Madrid 3/11 terrorist attacks and is also suspected of having played an organizational role in the 2003 Al-Qaida suicide bombings in Casablanca, Morocco. Reportedly Zougam visited London "in search of funding and logistical help" and contacted a number of North Africans living in Britain, including Guerbouzi.

06/25/05 "IHT" - - MADRID The Bush administration has refused to allow the Spanish authorities to interview a man accused of being a Qaeda operative whose testimony could be crucial to the prosecution of two men on trial here charged with helping to plan the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Spanish officials say.
With little more than a month left in the trial, the chief prosecutor in the case said he was still pressing the request to interview the accused man, Ramzi bin al-Shibh, who is suspected of playing a central role in organizing the attacks in New York and at the Pentagon.
The two defendants, Imad Eddin Barakat Yarkas and Driss Chebli, are charged with arranging a meeting in northern Spain in July 2001, for bin al-Shibh and Mohamed Atta, one of the Sept. 11 hijackers, as part of the final preparations for the attacks.
"An interview with bin al-Shibh could change everything," Pedro Rubira, chief prosecutor in the case, said in a recent interview. "He is very important for knowing what happened at that meeting." [clip]
