ODE TO CINDY SHEEHAN

In the year of 2005 a mother, a woman, stood forth
and planted her foot firmly on the ground.
from which she did not move
neiher back nor nor forth.

She stood in that place with both grace and with dignity.
She stood upon what she held to be true, to be just
And suffered being accounted a rabble-rouser, lunatic or worse

In the midst of Cindy's stance
the clockwork of the nation churned

and the elite dictators in their spinning space castles
regulated, and politicized and securitized
and did not hear a word Cindy stated.

And just when all appeared sedated,
dictated to regulated security protocol,
and yes not to forget by "Act"patriotized last of all....

Suddenly the hand of that finest of all ladies rose.
That hand rose up from the murky water
of the historic New York Harbour.

Yes, against skyline silhouetted
was seen to rise that lady's hand!
The torch she held was at first only barely flickering
but Cindy stood her ground and it brighter grew
shining where once stood the Twin Towers.

You see, clasped within Lady Liberty's hand
was the flame of an entire nation.
An ember whose warmth might have fully died
if not for Cindy Sheehan.

We the people must fan that flame
from sea to shining sea and as well
we must carry that flame across the waving grains
all the way to the purpled mountains majesty.
