The great folks at Ron Paul Meetup emailed me some very positive news about the Ron Paul groups.

Thank you for your interesting report at Ron Paul Growing by Leaps and Bounds.

You are missing the most important Ron Paul stat: the Ron Paul meetups are actual living American citizens who are organizing to do real things in support of their candidate. That means a lot more than visits to web sites, youtube views or friends on social networking sites or any poll. Here are the FACTS: We gained over 34% in membership in this last week to 9,928.

And as of tonight we have seen a 100% increase in membership to 10,316 members since May 26th. That’s a DOUBLING in membership in 16 days!

Project that! A 100% increase every two weeks will take us to 165,056 members in two months? Let’s say we get “only” to 50,000 members in two months...still a formidable, real force that no other candidate has.

Note: If you add up the members from each group it exceeds this total apparently due to members joining more than one group. So it would appear that the total at the top of the page represents unique members.

Could it be that the polls are lies? Our media lying to us? Nah, it couldn't be that the media are deliberately LYING?
The mainstream media have a vested interest in making sure that Ron Paul does not get elected. It would upset their entire game plan.
The Revolution will NOT be televised. It will be YouTubed.

The polls don't lie, they mislead. The results that are reported are accurate (Ron Paul really does get only 2-4% in the polls we are told about)

The distortion comes in various ways:

+ The group is cherry picked (a subset of past voters in that party)
+ They don't always tell you about every poll. Results vary, and when Ron Paul gets more than the amount "expected" then the pollster does another one, and another one, until Ron Paul gets the amount they did expect. That is the one they tell you about.

I think that is the reason that Gallup (for example) has not released a poll since prior to the second debate.

+ Dr. Paul might not actually be included in the poll, or the questions can be designed to force a particular answer like:
"Knowing that Ron Paul's foreign policy would mean a humiliating defeat in Iraq, would you still support him?"

+ Poll size is kept small (used in conjunction with multiple polls)

A lie is not nearly so effective, as a carefully chosen half-truth.
