He has never seen too large, he has always seen too small, too small. He has never had too much faith in what Man could do; he has always had too little.
We, too, can obtain nobility of the soul. With it, and with the Union's principle he lived by and kept alive, we can achieve Lincoln's goal. Together, we can found the "Great Republic" he foresaw "for man's vast future. WE can be the ones to bring to our confused, aspiring species what men have sought since at Babel they began the building of "a city and a tower whose top may reach unto heaven."
Let us hasten agreement by starting with as few of these as we need TO EQUIP THIS UNION FROM THE START WITH OVERWHELMING SUPERIORITY IN POWER....UNTIL THE UNION SHALL GRADUALLY BECOME THE GOVERNMENT OF ALL MANKIND AND ARMAMENT BE REDUCED TO A WORLD POLICE FORCE.
It might well be called PAX AMERICANA, since it can come only if we Americans take the lead in making it....And when the Union has become universal, men may call its peace, PAX DEI, remembering that it is the "peace of God which passeth all understanding," as St. Paul said.
