The Oath-
"I, Harry Virgil Tootle , do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties upon which I am about to enter."
The Power-
The Sheriff is the Chief Law Enforcement Official of the County Government. While many others may serve as Commissioned Police Officers for city, county, state or federal agencies- they are only employees and can be hired and fired at the behest of their supervisors.
The Sheriff is the ONLY Law Enforcement Official which is duly elected by We The People. This means the Sheriff is not only the "Top Cop" but has the power to arrest anyone breaking the law including but not limited to "smart ass cops", Sadistic cruel and in-humane jailers, lawyers, crooked judges, district attorneys, mayors, Police Chiefs, Congressmen, S.E.C. Chairmen, Senators, Federal Marshalls, FBI AGENTS, Homeland Security, Secret Service, CIA, NSA, DOD, INS, TSA, DEA DRUG ENFORCEMENT Agents, CORPORATE CEOs, Landlords, TRAILER PARK MANAGERS, Public Storage Managers, Locksmiths, Bankers, Doctors, Nurses, LYING "BEAR TRACKS" FEDERAL MAIL FRAUD POSTMASTERS ("there's no conspiracy john"), or any other person or group of persons not acting in the public interest, violating the Constitutional Rights of U.S. Citizens or "disturbing the peace and dignity" of the People of the County who have entrusted the Sheriff to protect them and their families.
Furthermore, the Sheriff has the power to deputize persons within the County to assist him in Keeping the Peace and protecting the citizenry of the County from "all enemies domestic or foreign." This means it is the Sheriff's responsibility to train citizens how to "assist Commissioned Peace Officers in the lawful performance of their duties" and with THAT it is the Sheriff who decides who can CARRY A CONCEALED WEAPON within the county- ESPECIALLY IN A TIME OF WAR UNDER THE WAR POWERS ACT.
The Orange County Sheriff also serves as CORONER which is more than "picking up dead bodies" and performing autopsies... It means having access to the most advanced, state-of-the-art forensic science equipment- not only for solving crimes but actively engaging any possibility of biological, chemical, nuclear or economic threat to the citizens of the county.
In summary, it is the Sheriff's job to Keep The Peace, serve and protect the County residents, with the help of the unorganized militia under Title 10 and 32 which includes "all able bodied males age 17 to 45" whether they "speak english" or have "green cards" or not. get it zieglar?
