To be Republican, or to be Right?

To Kris Cardiff, owner, www.stopdemocrats.com :

A man of ambition. Your two notes have that heavy scent (in a good way; I share the same disease, ho ho...).

OK, here it is: I am the most-hated man alive at FreeRepublic.com and FreeConservatives.com. I'm the only person, by name, who has an automated:

Thread Pulled
Reason: Fahey

at FreeRepublic. I shit you not. Am in a class unto myself.

Why? Back in "the day," when FR used to be "an online forum for independent, grassroots conservatism," I took it to be a serious site mission statement. And having been around "independent, grassroots conservatism" since 1985, when I formed the first-ever registered university chapter of the John Birch Society (can't get more conservative than that) at the age of 20, and then worked for: (paid staff member) then-Arizona Governor Evan Mecham (impeached; acquitted; tossed out of office illegally...hard-Right and proud of it); former Congressman John Conlan (R-AZ); the late Defense Intelligence Agency chief Lt. General Daniel O. Graham (architect of Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative..."Star Wars"), and others, I know the difference between "conservative" and "sell-out."

I now own and manage 11 heavy-traffic Right/libertarian (small "l") Web sites, and my opinion of the GOP has diminished greatly since George Bush the elder took office. My opinion of George W. Bush is even dimmer.

These assholes are not conservative. They do not represent, nor do they carry out, any semblance of Thomas Jefferson's anti-federalist vision of limited government and states' rights. There are about five (5) members of the House of Representatives who know the score: Ron Paul, Tom Tancredo, Trent Franks (with whom I worked, while in Arizona; he was, at the time, a state Representative), J.D. Hayworth (who will become Arizona's next Senator: bank on it) and maybe Virgil Goode (a disciple of Ron Paul).

The only Senator of worth is new-comer Tom Coburn, R-Oklahoma.

I'm still a registered Republican. But I find it pretty hard to explain why most of the time.

I can bring you some very nice traffic, and introduce you to some heavyweight voices for your iPodCast. I have an e-Rolodex five miles long. But if you're out to win friends among the Establishment Republican party, you'd be suicidal to join ranks with me.

Take a stroll through three of my sites: www.friendsofliberty.com , www.libertythink.com , www.dumpmccain.com . & then figure out in which direction you want to proceed.

In sum: Do you want to be popular, or do you want to be correct and to correct many wrongs?

Best,

Todd Brendan Fahey
