As patriots seeking government reform, we recognize the complicity of our leaders, lawmakers and jurists in the many injustices perpetrated upon the citizenry of the United States, both individually and collectively. We see the big picture of corporate corruption (i.e. pharmaceuticals and oil) stamped with government approval. We see the worship of the soon-to-be worthless almighty dollar and the real cost it has wreaked upon untold Americans.

But to lay the whole "dirty truth" at the feet of government alone, as Mr. Parenti has done, is myopic at best, if not blatant intellectual dishonesty. To attempt to assign further responsibility for the "dirty truth" to conservatives, vis-à-vis some "indifference" on their part, is a scurrilous disavowal of reality.

I would submit the following as the appropriate "message" to be forwarded to Mr. Parenti and his "bleeding heart" liberal socialist friends. (Yep! I said it!)

Mr. Parenti's sympathies are immediately recognizable by his exclusion of the approximately 1,370,000 abortions performed annually since 1973. (Alan Guttmacher Institute) It was the societal aberration of the feminist movement, aided and abetted by Planned Parenthood and the ACLU, that ushered in abortion on demand. Mr. Parenti talks about indifference. How about Margaret Sanger's view that, "The most merciful thing that the large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it." (Woman and the New Race. 1920.)

Such aberrations have contributed to a society that has embraced a 'culture of death' by trivializing the value of human life. The 'quality' of life is becoming the defining test of the 'right' to life, leading to medical and judicial orders of euthanasia. Such a culture spreads true indifference among medical professionals and institutions, departing from the tenet of the Hippocratic oath to do no harm.

Society has also enabled the proliferation of human weakness by its failure to demand personal responsibility, while advocating entitlement instead. Self-indulgence has replaced self-determination, creating a welfare state of otherwise capable citizens. The welfare state further creates self-perpetuating poverty, illiteracy, and the nurturing of baser human instincts such as crime, drug use, and domestic and child abuse.

These self-perpetuating ills are magnified by the systematic degradation of the nucleus of a healthy society...the family. As parental rights are dismissed, along with the redefining of what constitutes a family, patriarchal authority and influence in childrearing have given way to the impersonal "it takes a village" mindset. So much for raising secure, well-grounded, future citizens who understand responsibility and accountability and the necessity of individual participation and contribution to society.
At the center of this rapidly spinning vortex that is sucking the lifeblood from the heart of America, are the enemies of Christendom. The demonization of the Biblical truths and absolutes upon which this nation was founded, in favor of tolerance and relativism, has removed the divine blessings our nation knew in the time of our forefathers. As society grows more frigid to the precepts of God, while wantonly embracing a secular world view, we will continue to see statistics such as Mr. Parenti puts forth. Society has made its own bed and our only hope is a revival across the land and the mercy of God Almighty.

government officials are doing. This information could be used to motivate Americans to become citizen activists. It would be good for this message to be forwarded to as many other Americans as possible in an effort to wake them up to the real state of the union in the U.S.A.>> ====================================================================

determinedly toward their free-market Final Solution, stories abound of hunger, pain, and desperation. Such things have existed for a long time. Social pathology is as much a part of this society as crime and capitalism. But life is getting ever more difficult for many.>>

prosperous nation this is. The only thing that matches their love of country is the remarkable indifference they show toward the people
who live in it. To their ears the anguished cries of the dispossessed sound like the peevish whines of malcontents. They denounce as "bleeding hearts" those of us who criticize existing conditions, who show some concern for our fellow citizens.>>

"If you love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."
Samuel Adams
