ZebCivil Disobedience Won't Save TerriThu Mar 24, 2005 19:3169.213.137.156First off, I'm in the camp that says 'let Terri die in peace.' I don't know her at all but it's my belief that Terri would not want to be kept artificially alive. But what I don't understand are the protestors outside the hospital. If you activists really want to save Terri why don't you take some action instead of just standing outside the hospital and letting her die. I can't believe that little Gabriel Keys is the only one willing to get arrested to save her. If every protestor outside the hospital walked into the hospital and took over her room, how would the hospital staff or the police be able to stop you all? What are they going to open fire on you all? It's called strength in numbers. So then if no one is willing to take any meaningful action why are you all there? I think you're all out there because you all want attention. 'Oh, look how compasionate I am that I'm out here to save Terri's life.' None of you are truly willing to do anything meaningful to save this women. Protests and picket signs solve nothing. Action is needed. If you truly believe she should live go in there and save her. Maybe you could all pool your money together and buy a feeding machine and then you could all take turns taking care of her for the rest of her "life." Civil disobedience is not going to save Terri. Legal appeals are not going to save Terri. Unfortuntately for all of you, the only way left to save Terri is to break the law. If you truly want to save her do something about it already and quit just standing around holding signs with stupid slogans on them. Go into the hospital and feed her. But maybe getting arrested to save her "life" would be too much of an inconvenience and you'd all rather just stand around and be able to say later on that 'I was there fighting for Terri,' when the truth is that all your protests accomplish nothing in the way of actually saving Terri. To me it's as if you're all hypocrites. Acting like you're so concerned but not actually doing anything or taking any action that will make a difference. Time is running out.
