A well placed nuke in the seismic fault is sufficient to trigger the
earthquake that has a larger impact. It is not the nuke that does the job - it
is the earthquake. Tsunami is a side-effect of the earthquake.
The oil well from one side can be moved to the other. Chinese control on one
side of Sumatra islands. US controls the oil wells at the other side. Stealing
comes later.
Nuke experiments on fault lines can be modeled to determine major outcomes. It
may not be easy to predict the size of the earthquake however.
Just consider this - two earthquakes of similar magnitudes striking two
islamic nations on two consecutive christmas days (in US) to make Evangelists
and Zionists happy. Earthquakes do not show up looking at a calendar.
