KARL ROVE LOVES JEFF GANNON

Although The Daily Show is my favorite daily show, I'm disappointed in Jon Stewart as an interviewer. When former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger was a guest, Stewart obsequiously lobbed softballs at him. More recently, when former press secretary Ari Fleischer was a guest, Stewart didn't ask him anything about Jeff Gannon, the $200-an-hour gay prostitute cum Bush-administration propagandist in the guise of a journalist, sitting in the fourth row at White House press conferences and asking ass-kissing questions.

When that same subject came on HBO's Real Time, Bill Maher speculated that Gannon must have been getting it on with somebody in the White House. Robin Williams later filled in the blanks with an implication that this somebody in the White House was actually Karl Rove.

Stand-up comic Barry Crimmins envisions Gannon at a presidential press conference, wearing pink panties with a dog collar on his neck, asking, "Who do you have to blow to get a seat in the front row?"

Crimmins, a political satirist and activist, has gone from writing for Dennis Miller to writing for Air America Radio. About Miller, Crimmins now says, "Listening to his act is no longer something we look forward to; it is more like getting stuck in the back seat of your pop's station wagon while he lectures you on 'Americanism' through 30 miles of heavy traffic."

As a performer, Crimmins was heavily influenced by Lenny Bruce.

"Speech became a lot freer, thanks to Lenny," he told me. "I have never had to worry about a cabaret card or local police officials monitoring my shows. The only true censorship I've faced has been commercial in nature. But what the hell? Why should I expect them to allow me to stand on their soapbox to announce that their suds are polluting the river?"

In 1988, Crimmins was at CNN's New York studio to contribute commentary on the presidential campaign. He was chatting with CNN anchor Norma Quarles in the Green Room.

"Suddenly she looked right past me and began sucking up to someone at a clip that was fantastic even for a corporate news anchor." It was Henry Kissinger. Crimmins refused to shake hands with him. Later, Quarles asked him why. "Because," he replied, "I have a strict policy of never shaking hands with war criminals."

The title of Crimmins' new book is Never Shake Hands with a War Criminal. Unless, of course, you're Jon Stewart.

Reward: Jeff Gannon information
(Update: The reward is now $20k as of 03-02-05)

Have you seen this man?

A wealthy Washington socialite is offering a $10,000 reward for proof that Jeff Gannon (pictured), an allegedly gay kinky-sex prostitute / escort / white house reporter / GOP operative, has had any type of sexual, or romantic, relationship with any top-ranking Washington official(s) -- or proof that he engaged in any illegal sexual activities or favors.

Background on the case

The news on the Jeff Gannon case broke when he lost his White House correspondent credentials after some left wing blogs published links to gay military porn, featuring photos of him.

Gannon, whose real name is James Guckert, says (in a Newsweek article to go to print Feb 28) that what has happened to him is "political assassination." He has has singled out the Media Matters quasi-blog that focuses on the political affiliations of US media outlets, although John Aravosis of AmericaBlog is another possible lawsuit target, as he posted links to Gannon's image on gay military porn sites.

It remains unclear how Gannon got White House press access for almost two years (first in early 2003 as a GOPUSA [a group led by Texas GOP activist Bobby Eberle], and more recently for Eberle's Talon News blog), but one thing is for sure: Jeff Gannon is on the lips of every insider in Washington D.C. And many say he's been kissing some of them, too -- for $200/ hour and $1,200 / weekend. His profile appears on several escort websites. One site says "he leaves no marks, only lasting impressions."

So, I ask again -- have you seen this man? Have you slept with this man? Do you know this man?

A local socialite, who wishes to remain anonymous, has teamed up with this site to offer a $10,000 reward to anyone that can provide hard proof.

We are looking for evidence (photos, phone pictures, locks of hair, DNA on a suit) that Jeff Gannon had any type of sexual, or romantic, relationship with any top-ranking Washington official(s) -- or proof that he engaged in any illegal sexual activities or favors.

- Email tips to gannoninvestigation@kellyanncollins.com

I will post more information about this later, others have contacted me, offering to sweeten the reward.

How exciting, Kelly! I wish you success in your partnership in unraveling a juicy scandal...Second terms are a curse, and Bush is going to learn just how frustrating the next four years will be.

Is this why Bush goes to bed at 9:30 every night after a hard day of working and working out?

Do you really believe that $10,000 will get someone to open their mouth?

Jeff Gannon was in the White House BECAUSE he was a gay prostitute, not in spite of being a gay prostitute.

Party on, Karl!

And how are Paris Hilton and/or Tara Reid connected to this scandal?

I can sense the PR rep for Paris is drooling nearby and Tara will no doubt stumble into the mix drunk.

No substitute for real journalism

There are some lessons to be learned in the Jeff Gannon-Jim Guckert scandal – for the press and for the politicians.

Guckert is a right-wing political activist with a seriously compromised personal life. Somewhere along the line, he decided the best way he could make a name for himself or help spread his "conservative" political ideology was to pose as a journalist.

He got a boost from a conservative political organization that founded a faux news organization called GOP USA.

GOP USA arranged with Guckert to become its White House correspondent under a pseudonym, Jeff Gannon.

Once the organizers of GOP USA realized its very name betrayed its agenda, they hastily retooled a second sister outfit called Talon News. Guckert then apparently was able to continue seamlessly to get his daily White House press passes representing Talon News, despite using the phony name and despite the fact that he was leading a double life as a would-be purveyor of homosexual pornography and $1,200-per-weekend stud services on the Internet through now defunct websites such as Hotmilitarystuds.com, Militaryescorts.com and Meetlocalmen.com.

Maybe the reason the White House didn't mind looking the other way when it came to Gannon-Guckert was the fact that he was only too eager to lob softball questions at press conferences.

Who knows why this symbiotic relationship succeeded for as long as it did? Perhaps Gannon-Guckert knew something about people in the Bush administration. Or, perhaps some inside the Bush administration knew the truth about Gannon-Guckert. We may never know the full truth.

But the whole sordid affair illustrates just why a truly free and independent press is so vital to watchdogging government.

I have no doubts that the people who launched Gannon-Guckert in his ill-fated journalism career probably looked at the success of WorldNetDaily and said to themselves: "We can do this. Any one can start a website and claim to be a news operation, get access to government and use this platform to spread our ideology, befriend politicians we like and buy influence with politicians. It looks easy."

However, what the political activists pretending to be journalists never understood – and still do not understand to this day – is that you can't fool everyone.

WorldNetDaily has succeeded in reaching millions and influencing the rest of the media because it does not pretend. I founded WorldNetDaily only after working inside the news media doing everything one can possibly do for more than 25 years. WorldNetDaily's mission is to telling the truth – no matter whose ox is gored. WorldNetDaily hires only serious and experienced journalists with the highest standards of ethics – both in their professional lives and their personal lives.

That's the WorldNetDaily difference – something easily missed by political activists who want to hitch their wagons to the New Media trail blazed by WorldNetDaily and WorldNetDaily alone.

Oh, sure, there are other efforts. But I would submit to you that all of them have, unfortunately, more in common with the Gannon-Guckert media model than with the WorldNetDaily model.

There is no substitute for good journalism. There is no substitute for seeking the truth. There is no substitute for upholding high ethical standards. There is no substitute for fierce independence.

What the pretenders did backfired. They have hurt their own ideological cause more than they know. They have tarnished the image of the administration they championed. They have undermined the cause of the responsible New Media and the free press in America.

You might remember the two-year fight WorldNetDaily waged to become credentialed by the Senate Press Gallery. Meanwhile, an activist organization – pretending to be a journalistic one and ensnared in personal scandal – pranced into the White House and secured access to the president of the United States.

It raises serious security questions. It raises questions of propriety. It raises questions of judgment. And it raises questions about the role of a free press in a free society.

Wow, great large post! Try a link next time? FYI, Kelly Ann is/was a firey nose to the news investigative journalist before she became a Washington DC socialite, but you researched that before you tried that lil innuendo, yes?

KAC, people want to donate money to increase the size of your reward fund! I would recommend that you get together with John Aravosis at AmericaBlog.org to set up an escrow account. In case no one ever comes forward let people know that the funds doanted will be given to a specific charity. Maybe Jeff Gannon will give the info and earmark the money for charity too!

Hello. I am surprised that nobody caught on what dubya said when he was reselected. He stated loud and clear, that he had a man date. Now this Guckert dude pops up. Man date? Interesting...

Since dubya himself admitted that he had a man date, you could send the money to him. But then, there are people that REALLY need the money, so why don’t you publish dubya’s confession and send the money to some non-faith based organization to fight AIDS, perhaps.

Sincerely, - Malgoska.

Hey, how about someone create a web site where all the truth seeking netizents could donate a small amount, say 10 bucks, to a "reward" fund for such activities. $10,000 is a good idea, but doesn't go very far when you're asking someone to challenge Rove/Bush Inc. Heck, how about trying to raise a million bucks to pay off our favorite military stud to come clean and do a tell all!!!

When Ohio was going down, the internet easily raised 100K+ in less than a week for a recount.

Let's buy Gannon's services!!! He's demonstrated time again that he doesn't want to fade into the wood work and he's willing to do just about anything for money - right now he's trying to sell his old militarystud.com domain names.

So could some web savy guys hook up with a trusted blogging site and get a donation site going with a trusted trustee and let's get this story!!!

Are you kidding? This evidence will prove invaluable! Forget DC. The international market will command a much higher sum, not to mention provide the protection necessary to bring this evidence forth.

$10G is a barely acceptable way to air the issue, but it's obviously nowhere near enough.

All the sex-stuff over Guckert is fun fun fun, and everybody knows fun is #1. But let's not miss the primary issue: an individual with no legitimate credentials managed to recieve security clearance from the FBI and the Secret Service, as well as view classified documents; document ranging from pre-war plans for the Iraq invasion to the outing of a CIA operative (treason), and a number more in the middle. This is a major breach of the nation's security guidelines. This is impeachable material, not the sex stuff.

In November 2004, Justice Through Music, www.jtmp.org posted a $200,000 reward for info about electoral fraud and that resulted in the whole electoral reform movement that has swept the country and congress the past 60 days. Larry Flint did the same thing during the Clinton impeachment proceedings. This is a good idea, but it has to be publicized. Also, a donor does not actually have to give up the money, only pledge to give the money if certain criteria is met. If those are not met, the money does not need to ever change hands.

Really, the book/movie deals are waiting, but we can't wait. This has the potential of bringing down the worst leader in the history of man. Any reward that gives incentives for clues NOW is welcome. But if Guckert doesn't speak out soon, his story will most likely be post mortem, and his heirs will be the only ones profiting...

They have this all wrong.

You should be paying GANNON directly to spill ALL the beans.

He's a whore. He'll do anything for enough money.
