On several recent programs Mike has pointed out that death in all its many shades follows the comings and goings of prominent members of the Bush Crime Family. Whether it was Southeast Asia, Central America, the Middle East, Africa, no matter. Where you find Elliot Abrams, John Negroponte, Otto Reich, Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, Douglas Feith - the list goes on and on -- you also find torture, disappearances and death. The latest example? As the AP reports, US troops who mistakenly killed an Italian intelligence agent last week on the road to Baghdad's airport were part of extra security provided by the US Army to protect US Ambassador John Negroponte. Democrats Slam Report that Clears Pentagon
A report by Navy inspector general Vice Adm. Albert Church appears to whitewash the Pentagon’s role in the abuse and torture of prisoners. Needless to say, there’s no mention of the CIA program of “rendition.”

Out of Sight, Out of Mind
A Salon investigation finds wounded soldiers returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan are flown in during the middle of night. Those with the most serious injuries are taken to VA hospitals, where the press is barred from seeing or taking photos of incoming patients. The Pentagon refuses to give an adequate explanation of why there are only night-time arrivals, but Executive Director of OpTruth Paul Rieckhoff has a good idea of why this is so: "They do it so nobody sees [the wounded]. In their mind-set, this is going to demoralize the American people. The overall cost of this war has been continuously hidden throughout. As the costs get higher, their efforts to conceal those costs also increase."
