The reason "sin is not imputed when there is no law" is because, through Christ, we have overcome the law.

This is the good news.

We are no longer justified by the law (of state or of Moses) but are held to a much higher standard, namely conscience through faith -- love.

Love fulfills the law and the prophecies. (read Mathew, 22: 37-40)

You are right: Christ died for us all. We are redeemed from the curse of the law (read Galatians)
