WACO, Tx., Feb. 8 /Christian Wire Service/ -- A judge has acquitted 18
abortion protesters charged with violating a Waco ordinance in a demonstration
in front of a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic.
"Our historic American liberties triumphed over the modern tyranny that is
running rampant in America today. Some city governments and God-hating judges
have in recent years have tried to use the color of law (injunctions, city
ordinances, etc.) to destroy our precious liberties to preach the gospel and
to speak on the behalf of the unborn throughout our nation.
Yesterday, a local judge, Tom Ragland, rejected this politically correct
stronghold and vindicated eighteen Christian, Pro-lifers in the city of Waco.
This court trial highlights the tragic condition of what government is driven
to in order to defend the indefensible. Since they refuse to defend the rights
of the unborn, they must of necessity seek to refuse the rights of the born
who are convicted by Scripture and history to protect their pre-born
neighbors." -- Rev. Rusty Lee Thomas of Elijah Ministries
Background:
Judge Dismisses Charges Against Anti-abortion Demonstrators
Feb. 8, WACO, Texas (AP) A judge has acquitted 18 abortion protesters [charged
with violating] a Waco ordinance in a demonstration in front of a Planned
Parenthood clinic.
McLennan County Court-at-Law Judge Tom Ragland returned his verdict after a
daylong retrial of the 18. He offered no explanation for yesterday's rulings.
The 18 had been convicted last August of violating a new city ordinance that
banned such street activity as parades and demonstrations in school zones
during school hours.
The demonstrators were cited last March for refusing to disperse in front of
the Planned Parenthood of Central Texas, which is across the street from a
school.
