The FACTS of the GRASSROOTS LOBBYING section of S1
There was a problem with removing this section. INDEED,
the theory behind it was CORRECT, HOWEVER, the
contribution levels for implementation WERE WAY TO
SMALL. IE, Pulbic Citizen was for the GL section, AND IT
MADE SENSE, just as removing it made sense. Many groups
are being
passed off as GL that are getting MAJOR FUNDING FROM
BIASED AGENDAS AND GROUPS. Public Citizen gave several
examples of GL that had recieved from 1 to 20 million
dollars by agenda orgs AND HAD A VALID POINT. As usual
of those using truth to scam, instead of going after the
groups
getting MILLIONS AND SHOULD HAVE TO COMPLY WITH SHOWING
WHERE THEIR FUNDING IS COMING FROM (and can afford to do
the BS being required to accomplish it), THEY LOWERED
THE AMOUNT OF CONTRIBUTION LEVELS SO THAT SMALL GLs
COULD NOT AFFORD TO COMPLY AND BE EFFECTIVE.
MORE SUCCINCTLY - THE GL SECTION WAS A GREAT IDEA, BUT
THE LEVELS WERE SET WAY, WAY, WAY TO LOW. INSTEAD OF
25,000 PER QTR, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A GOOD AND NEEDED IF
THE LEVEL OF CONTRIBUTION WAS SET AT 250,000 PER QTR AND
OVER 1 MILLION IN CONTRIBUTIONS PER YEAR. Unfortunately,
there was no promotion of this aspect and the only major
groups were
either for or against the GL section. The lesser of the
2 evils was against so that is what I helped push.
I hope this explains the mysteries of the GL section. GL
section 25k BAD, GL section 250k (or a little higher)
GOOD.
