30 August 2003: [OPERATIONAL UPDATE]: During the next two (2) days, we will be carefully reviewing and re-reviewing hundreds of pages of downloads that were obtained at a rather furious pace over the last few days in an attempt to identify the most pertinent information to be included in our next update. In the interim, significant information developed from these efforts will be forwarded directly to the Terror Alert Update (TAU) developed by Steve Quayle, available here or through the above link. As the director of this network, it is my professional opinion that the TAU should be frequently accessed and monitored, along with each of the news stories and "Q" file postings contained on his web site. Immediately following the proper notification of the applicable federal authorities of significant findings, his site and TAU will contain reflected changes in real-time.
During this holiday weekend in the United States, readers of this site are also urged to review the literature and books available on the Internet that cover and outline emergency preparedness. This recommendation is not made with any particular of specific knowledge that such measures will be immediately needed, but is simply made because such preparatory measures are both reasonable and prudent. Storms, routine power outages for extended periods, and other unseen emergencies can catch you by surprise and cause a great deal of inconvenience if you are not properly prepared. Being adequately prepared for an emergency can be compared to owning an insurance policy-not too many responsible people would think of NOT having insurance on their home, car, or life, but many of us are woefully unprepared for any "disaster" that will last more than a day or two. Although there are many books and resources available, my personal recommendation is "Dare to Prepare" by Holly Deyo (Note: This recommendation is my own; I am not affiliated with nor do I receive any compensation, direct or indirect, from making this recommendation).
A recent conversation with a most respected investigator and colleague who is experienced in obtaining information and intelligence of the same nature suggests that there is a significant and immediate al Qaeda threat of attacks against targets in Indonesia. His findings are consistent with the content contained on a number of US intelligence sites and should not be underestimated.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank those who have sent emails to the network, offering a variety of tips, suggestions, advice and even positive comments on the work being conducted. All emails are read and most are appreciated and personally answered. In my opinion, the Northeast Intelligence Network is comprised of the most dedicated and knowledgeable professionals who are aware of the magnitude of the threats against our country (and countries), our freedom, and our way of life. Although very small in number, the volunteers who spend countless (uncompensated) hours pouring over information that might or might not have any value to the intelligence community are "the best of the best" in my professional estimation.
In a closing note, I would like to thank the members of a popular Internet forum for reposting some of the more salient information contained in the alerts and advisories published on this site. The dissemination of information for public scrutiny and analysis is always encouraged and recommended, along with independent discussion and intellectual discourse of the data presented. At the very least, this process serves to inform the public; at its most extreme, it might even save a life. Similarly, it is interesting to point out that as director of the Northeast Intelligence Network, I have personally submitted at least three major "tips" to a popular cable news network as soon as the information was properly provided to the applicable authorities. At the same time, the identical information was made available to the host of the most listened-to nighttime radio program in the US and abroad. While the cable new channel chose to ignore the information, the popular radio host read the information in its entirety to his listeners. The result - a more educated public and a major scoop of the "mainstream" press, who ultimately broadcast the identical information over 48 hours later. Much can (and should) be said for the insightfulness of the radio host who serves his listening audience well by his comprehensive reporting.
