'Non-Pod' People Of America Must Unite

Dear Non-Pod People of America:
The cult film; Invasion of the Body Snatchers, is indicative to
me of today's mostly
apathetic--passive--indifferent--conditioned--programmed--conditioned--h
opeless--fearful sheep; existing not living, in a zombified shuffling
state of nothingness. That is, all but the few, who have not "gone to
sleep".
Across the nation, mills are shuttered and silent. as mostly
befuddled town officials seek to attract upscale businesses to turn them
into malls--upscale condominiums--or art enclaves. Talk a few years
back, in our locale, was how to attract the Silicon informational
technology field. Well, that's bit the dust as millions of these well
paying jobs are being shipped to Russia, China, India, Ireland, Jamaica
and the Philippines. Remember the days when parents were encouraged to
have their children computer literate and educated?
If one's job isn't outsourced (sent abroad) chances are IT
workers will find themselves replaced with workers from abroad supplied
with guest visas (thanks to your concerned politicians taking care of
their industry buddies). In many instances, American workers are made
( under threat of no severance package) to train their foreign
replacements. Slam bam, you're gone. One day working, feeding your
family, the next morning; a three minute goodbye," See ya later
Charlie!" Gone your livelihood, your medical coverage, your children's
education, and you out in the job market at age fifty with your degrees
competing with college kids and guest workers!
Safety Net? Well maybe if you're a CEO with a golden parachute,
such as Dick Cheney etc., or a politician, eligible for a life long
lucrative pension, after only serving five years, with a yearly cost of
living adjustment. Then there's that cushy lobbyist job waiting, so no
worries for them. No worry of medical coverage, as they have five
different plans to choose from, covering such incidentals as
prescriptions--dental--and eyeglasses. We pick up 72% of their costs.
And you wonder at the disconnect between elected officials and their
constituents? Off-time has them on exotic vacations, at taxpayers
expense, under the guise of fact-finding missions.
While we have been dutifully distracted with fluff and nutter,
TV infotainment, disguised as news, the real stories of America, the
less sensational, of joblessness, homelessness, and food lines is not
shown. Ever seen an investigative story on guest workers coming here to
work for a third of an American's salary (living in group homes), taking
an American's job? I think not. Ever see a story on the veterans from
WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War (sham) I, living and dying under bridges,
in abandoned cars, plastic tents? I think not. Not good for enlistment.
Ever see a story of the elderly found frozen to death in their
apartments, cutting their medications in half, or unable to secure any
at all, due to rising rents, rising taxes, rising fuel and food costs?
Not on your life.
Meanwhile, the pigs at the trough, across the nation, are having
a pig-a-thon, plundering, looting, scamming and robbing communities and
the nation blind in their orgy of insatiable, "gimmie more-slurp" greed.
Be it billions upon billions in bailouts for the S&L heist, the electric
utility stranded cost pilfering, Legions of lobbyists and corporate
soulless attorney's, along with politicians and
regulatory-drone-bureaucrats; see to this largesse and corporate
welfare/subsidizes, under the guise of the new lingo called
public-private partnerships. There is no partnering about it. It's they
play we pay--plain and simple. Privatization, whether in secular society
and now the military, is about plunder and profit, and the
people/soldiers be damned. Wonder why our soldiers in 120 degree heat
are allotted only 1 liter of water per day and MRE sawdust food? Ask
Senator Kerry, he'll tell you, that it's because private corporations,
handling all of this now are not delivering, because their insurance
companies won't cover them! Read Corporate Warrior by P.W.Singer for
some insight, you WON'T see it on infotainment; car chases, drunken
brides, semen stained dresses, dope dealing rappers or sport star
rapists. War Is A Racket by Major General Smedley Butler, is another eye
opener, that you won't see given out by recruiters.
With this quagmire of Iraq, and our soldiers much like ducks in
a shooting gallery, we hear, "Bring'em On..We will endure any hardship."
Hmm...easy enough said, when one is riding the range in an air
conditioned truck, lounging around eating pretzels in an air conditioned
ranch house, and glad handing it, chomping down Texas prime-cut
porterhouse steak, at fund raising barbecues, with the money boys out
slumming for the day. No MREs, gnats, fleas, disease, open latrines,
booby trapped roads here. Right, "Bring'em On". Water...hell, with water
let's toast the war with scotch.
War protests, saw people from all walks of life, and all ages
out parading, marching, singing, drumming and pleading for another way,
any way but war. They were aware of our first Gulf War I veterans,
suffering from Gulf War Illness, and the thousands who have died since
returning home. They were aware that reservists returning home had to go
on welfare to secure medical care. They were aware of the vaccinations
of untested anthrax, the depleted uranium(radiation) now used in
weaponry, because it cuts through metal like butter; the Daisy Cutters,
incendiary nightmares, the napalm and the cluster bombs shredding the
limbs from children as they slept. They were aware that Walter Reed (as
shown on 60min) issued the cheapest of prosthesis for missing, shattered
limbs, supposedly (sit down) to "save tax payer dollars". These, the
people crying peace, were the true supporters of the troops, unimpressed
with the public relations marketed propaganda. They were and are still
awake, not part of the Pod population. "Don't go to sleep".
While many marched--held signs--went off to gatherings and
returned home; others, chose to use their talents of poetry--artistry
and writing, to reach the multitudes. To pull aside the curtain and show
the Wizard for what he is, a withered--wrinkled imposter. No--there are
no paychecks, no royalty checks or dividend checks arriving in the mail.
My friend John in Florida is such a man, as is the wonderful awesome
artist/writer Jim below. Would that I could but I'm impoverished as him,
(artists usually are), I would take him under my wing. Please go to
Jim's site below and see what I mean as you click on to a majestic trip
of talent. Then read of his hardship and see what you can do. There is
no safety-net. If we don't support one another, to whom shall we turn?
Not everybody is the poet--artist-writer-musician, and so it should be.
Everyone though, has his/her part. Some may be great organizers--others
able to assist at soup kitchens in their area--and still others have the
means to support those sounding the trumpet. Each must ask themselves,
"What part am I in bringing peace and love to broken humanity". Someday
your child may ask, "What did you do to make a difference to stop this?"
