I don't know what to make of the debate last night. Kerry certainly gained
points, and it was like Bush was kind of fogged up.

I went to bed trying to remember what impression I got from Bush and his
little pinched face and comments. You know, like when Kerry nailed him on
saying "the enemy" attacked us, for a reason to invade Iraq. Kerry reminded
him it was Osama, and not Saddam who attacked us, and Bush said, "I know
that!", in a kind of flippant way. It reminded me of something familiar,
but it wasn't mini-strokes -- not that I would probably recognize that
anyway.

When I woke up this morning it finally hit me.

I spent 6.5 years with Circus Vargas, surrounded by homosexuals. I was just
about the only straight guy in the bunch, but I got to know them very well,
and that's what I recognized about Bush's performance: He was acting
bitchy!

No, I'm not joking. The guy's response to Kerry's criticism was like that
of a queen flamer who just got put down by some well-aimed verbal jab. It
was an effeminate, bitchy little response.

Just my impression, but it is an educated one.

You know, I think Kerry is making a huge mistake not promising to get our
kids out of Iraq right away. I was watching the various non-media, average
citizens being interviewed today, and overwhelmingly, they wanted to hear a
candidate say they had a plan to get us out of Iraq a lot sooner than 4
years, or as soon as security is achieved -- which never will happen in a
guerilla war until the reason the guerilla fighters are fighting is resolved
to their satisfaction. You cannot beat them militarily unless you wipe out
damn near the entire population of non-combatants, so you either cave in or
negotiate to the extent they get what they want in order to stop killing
you. We made the same mistake in Viet Nam, and as one older interviewee
told the reporter, he'd heard all the same things while 58,000 of our kids
were being slaughtered. Nobody was willing to even suggest we pack up and
get out, let alone negotiate with "terrorists".

Come to think of it, another King George made the same mistake and got his
ass kicked back to England by a terrorist named George Washington.

We never learn, so long as it's not our own ass being shot at. I really
wish this Bush had served on the combat lines in Viet Nam. I think he'd
have a different view of what he's gotten us into, and actually, had he been
there instead of here in the Air Guard, he probably wouldn't have gotten us
into Iraq at all. At least Kerry does have an intimate knowledge of that
kind of warfare, even if it was for only a few months. I believe Kerry when
he said he'd never have attacked Iraq when Bush did. There were a lot of
steps that could have been taken before that, but Bush just fanned the
flames and insisted Iraq was an imminent threat to our security.
