R.W. Barker Wheels of Justice grind exceedingly slow Thu Jul 8, 2004 16:28 64.140.158.250 Wheels of Justice grind exceedingly slow, yet they do move. Former Enron chairman Ken Lay has been indicted and the wheel of justice has turned full circle. Mr. Lay has stood in the middle of a whirlwind of controversy after the fall of Enron, a company he founded, now accused of cooking the books and ruining the retirement and stock holdings of thousands of employees and investors. Fraud and insider trading by Ken and friends included, fixing the books to appear to be profitable, driving up the price of stock by claiming false profits, this is the Enron method! Next the executives sell their stock at top prices and when the real news hits and the stocks fall to the Earth. Pension funds that are based on stock are depleted and the smaller investors lose. Executives at Enron walked out with millions in profit went out and bought many personal homes to protect their theft; you see personal property is tougher to seize. These corporate crooks expected to get away with this! Why? Because many have in the past, this one was just too big to ignore. President Bush was accused of the exact same thing at Harken energy, S.E.C. investigations proved Bush was culpable yet the elder Bush stepped in and S.E.C. backed off George with only a warning. The Bush family is great friends of Ken Lay the Bush children call Mr. Lay “ daddy Lay.” President Bush refers to him as Kenny boy; they are both Texas oilmen and are part of that good old boy circle in Texas. Ken Lay assumed his friend in the White House would protect him no doubt, of course he was wrong and even a close tie to the president will not hide your sins. Once again my faith in American justice has been restored, I assumed Lay was untouchable due to his friendship with Bush. These Enron rip offs are worse than common thieves because we put our trust in them, no one can trust a thief and Americas trust in big business was dealt a blow by these crooks. Thank God for the big slow moving wheel of justice it may move slow but it gets there eventually. R.W. Barker A Chronology of Enron Corp.
