This article was nonsense. The fact is the Gannon story should remain front page news and the hard questions should be asked by media. It isn't that consumers don't care. They aren't permitted to know.
Most people, because of severe political pressure and obvious corruption in this government (Gannon raises all this again IMHO), this nations most sensational story, the sex pedophile ring, child snuff film ring and international drug running ring which led straight into the Reagan/Bush #1 White House, was virtually squashed ("The Franklin Coverup" by John DeCamp). Only one paper carried it -- the Washington Times in the late 1980's. A document of this story, "Conspiracy of Silence," was due to air on Discovery Channel in 1994 and, at the last minute, because of a very high ranking politician's intervention, the show was cancelled, known copies of the show were purchased and destroyed. Only anonymous copies we kept hidden and now are available only on the Net to see -- editted, of course.
The wrong people went to jail -- the victims. The perpetrators were never convicted of their sex crimes and murders. Some are now free again. And now Guckert surfaces. And no one in the media seems to want to connect dots. How can comsumers care if they just plain don't know?
Your article is nonsense.

I guess you people don't mind so very much if whores are in the White House and working for news outlets. Watching Fox and supporting Bush, you were already comfortable with the idea. But it doesn't appear the story is really going away; smaller dailies throughout middle America are all asking the same question: What was a whore, posing as a reporter for a fake media outlet, doing in the White House lobbing softballs? You only pray it goes away.

I am a Republican, and I care that a president needs to have his questions soft pitched to him by a flaming gay man. The whole thing is underhanded and stinks to high heavens.
Reagan was man enough to stand up to a few real liberal reporters and not stack the deck.
I really want to know who signed off on his daily press pass all the times he was there, it's a serious security leak to allow someone with a fake name to talk directly to the president.
I think this is a lot more serious than the entire monica fiasco, because that involved private behavior and this involves a violation of the publics trust during performance of official duties.
We have been lied to by this administration.

I disagree. Since I track the story, it is getting more press now, and not favorable. The manipulation of the press, and particularly the White House hypocrisy in allowing a gay prostitue posing as a reporter to softball Bush, is deplorable. And you missed the point. It's added to the other secretly paid shills and phoney "news" the administration puts out that reveals a propaganda ministry, not a freedom of information spirit. Definitely un-American.

Good grief, what is wrong with you people? A self-promoting male prostitute manages get within shooting distance of the President of the US, and there's no problem?
This is about security. If the people around the president can't do their jobs, then they should be fired.

Let us not forget that it took Watergate a little while to gain traction.

Just curious where does it say that he got into the white house using his fake name? I have just heard/read that from the left blogs and shows. I thought in the press conference with Scott McClellan he said he used is real name to get in. If there is a different news article will someone please post it?
"White House press secretary Scott McClellan said Guckert did not have a regular White House press pass but was cleared on a day-by-day basis to attend briefings and used his real name."

The blogger who wrote about the Franklin Cover up is right on the money. That scandal included gay military men, as well as young boys. Gannon is former military, it's possible that he was involved in Franklin. The lead investigator in Franklin died in a " plane crash " and the Gannon like figure in the center, Craig Spence " drowned " in the Chesapeake Bay. Find out everything you can about the Franklin Cover up, it provides the framework for Gannon.

If this had happened with a so-called "Liberal" administration, the right-wing religious nuts would be screaming so loud it would split the heavens. What a bunch of hypocrites!

Nice goofy shock jock journalism. Your brand of cynicism got me to post though. This is a huge story and regardless of Gannon's name recognition, all the salaciousness needed is there for this to be carried on all major media. The problem is that it indirectly involves the current administration and demands questions be answered. No one knew who Scott Pederson was but his repulsive life was all over the news. Media outlets like your's will deem this un-newsworthy based on the silliest of reasons and try to categorize anyone who thinks differently as a left-wing "moonbat." C'mon this whole story is stranger than fiction and would interest even the most appathetic slack jaw. Face up, drop partisan politics and recognize that this is being dismissed by corporate owned media and their pressitutes who would rather cover sanctioned events. While taxpayers are being asked to fork over billions for homeland security, we see characters like Gannon getting face time with the head fearmonger himself. If guys like this slip through the cracks, who else has insinuated themselves into similar positions? But you know that's a rhetorical question. Clearance for this guy came with knowledge. You might suprised by how many people and congressmen are intrested in that knowledge. Overall I give you an "F" on journalistic ability and an "B-" on being an editorial button pusher.

"This tempest in a teapot "story" lacked the main ingredient needed to get the American news consumer to pay attention. A known name."
What?
Lewinsky wasn't a known name when that story broke.
Press coverage made it so and so did hatred of Clinton at the time.
Hatred of Bush now is suppressed. Regular print and broadcast journalists fear for their access and their jobs if they criticize this administration. That's the larger context for the Gannon story...BECAUSE...of his welcomed softball questions...BECAUSE...of his special treament in the White House press pool...BECAUSE...he was no more credentialed than any schmuck who sets up a website and calls it a news-site. Gannon was no more a functioning journalist than some of the detractors you decry are going after him. You're using one rule for the goose and another for the gander here.
Armstrong Williams was outed and lost his syndication for acting as a shill. Big whoops and cries about his journalistic integrity. Williams wasn't even in the White House press pool; yet journalistic standards were applied that you're not applying nin this instance.
This administration sought and succeeded in denying Sarah McClendon a White House press pass in 2001 even though she carried 1200 radio stations, worked as Washington buureau chief for the Philadelphia Daily News, and owned her owned news service right up to her death at age 92....and had a WH Press Pass since FDR.
So stop back-handing the Gannon particulars off the table. The rules of goose and gander apply here.
If you can't see that, or you can't understand the value of seeing the bloggers' point within the larger context of democratic rights, you have no business commenting on the issue. And you're no better than those you complain about.

The Gannon story definitely is important and definitely includes a big name: The Bush Administration.
Those who slam the media are in fact the ones who are corrupting it.
The phony, self-righteous Right is dishonest, disgusting, and unAmerican.

I mean jeezlouise, they perpetrated 9/11 and got away with it scot free... they barely even tried to cover it up! 9/11 I mean... they destroyed Iraq using justifications that were bald faced lies... they have villified the U.N. over the oil 4 food bullshit, while totally escaping scrutiny of their own skode actions regarding oil... these are just 3 of many true scandals... what about the voting bullshit of '00 & '04?.. bushco is immune and they will never be brought down by
Gannongate...
