Sergei Borglum HoffAn Open Letter to George Bush in Honor of Presidents' DayFri Feb 13 20:28:52 200467.75.205.40Mr. President:If you decide to become a steadfast defender of constitutional law, I will enthusiastically support you all the way. Tragically for us all, such a transformation of character and willing reevaluation of your ill-conceived policies appear less likely by the day. Despite the euphoria of the national audience, your amplified words of "protecting our freedoms, defending the Bill of Rights, equal justice, rule of law, personal responsibility, limited government, securing our borders, and necessary security measures," typify political trumpery at best. At worst, they are the reassurances of an Iscariot. In opposition to the emotionally animated and nationally fashionable praise for your exhibitions, I shall moreover submit that you have done nothing to downsize and cleanse our polluted government. Under your watch, government continues to balloon, and justice aimed towards rogue federal agents and the perfidious Clinton administration is further denied the people. Of supreme importance, violations of human rights have intensified. Regardless of a few seemingly beneficial offerings--for the titillation of the masses--there is no evidence of a relationship between your spoken defense of the Constitution and actions. Contrary to your well-publicized reassurances of government creditability, your manifestations are the completing steps of cronyism, totalitarianism, imperialism, and degenerative socialism. Your contempt for the doctrines of our Founding Fathers has been revealed to all reasoning patriotic Americans of a wise and healthy "doubting Thomas" nature. It requires intellectual honesty and strength of character in order to be faithful to the people and Constitution. Our Constitution needs to be defended and revitalized; not eroded by a fountain of unconstitutional legislation, an outpouring of enfeebling socialistic programs, a violent flow of meddling federal police agencies, a flood of self-destructive foreign policies, and a torrent of sovereignty subversive United Nations treaties. Politically thrilling it all may be for the egotist, but your frequent minuets with Socialist senators, endless warmongering orations, and farcically scripted cowboy-machismo are unreliable strategies for the defense of individual freedoms, justice, the economy, national sovereignty, or the U. S. Constitution. I cannot speak for everyone, but eight years of the Clinton duet quenched my thirst for diversions and showmanship. Sir, you are an accomplished illusionist but a failed champion for our children. Indeed, along with your predecessor you have dishonored the office of president.Wishing you a contemplative Presidents' Day,Sergei Borglum Hoff (grandnephew of Gutzon Borglum, sculptor of Mount Rushmore National Memorial) 9/11 Panel to Seek Testimony From Bush New York Times, Sat Feb 14 01:16 Arrests at Ground Zero - "9/11 Solidarity Actions" Michael Kane, Fri Feb 13 21:25
